Yahoo's still #1 in Display...
At least according to Darren Herman’s reckoning. Using ZenithOptimedia’s 2011 digital marketing figure of $64B, that put’s y-bang at just under 10%. With broadcast and cable hanging on to share of spend by a fingernail, the “beleaguered portal” in a great position to grab even more branding dollars.

Brilliant parody all the way through. Be sure to read the threads under the photos. And there’s some irony in there as well, since this was produced the same week Kodak stock (EK) sunk to an all-time low.

"The road to Maine?"
“How successful you are as a distributor directly correlates with the rewards that accrue to the creator of what you distribute (see the cable industry). How successful you are as a creator correlates with your value to the distributor and or the end consumer (see HBO and ESPN). In the end someone pays someone on an item basis, on a channel basis, or a bundle basis. It’s interesting...

Great interview with Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh on The Colbert Report. Nominally, he’s promoting his new book, Delivering Happiness; on a much larger level, he’s promoting a company culture that allows Zappos to beat the “lowest cost provider” mentality of internet retailing and that should allow them to continue to expand beyond their original market of shoes.
Here’s a...

The Y! Finance Breakaout Boys — Macke and Nesto — dig into the neXtup Facebook pricing with SharesPost CEO Dave Weir… FBK shares are up 10% since the LinkedIn IPO, mostly due to Mutual Fund companies wanting exposure to social media copmanies. Meanwhile, LNKD is down almost 22% from the opening day close of $94.25.

I’m not 100% sure where BMW is going with Mini… between the one off Rolls-Royce interior prototype that is somewhat of a put-down to the main product…
and now this Mini Coupe two-seater that pales next to the 1-series…
I just hope that they don’t rely on those French engines for this model when it streets next year.

The new version of Y! Mail is available across all web, smartphone, and tablet platforms. Ya-w00t! BTW — I’m not impressed with gmail on the iPad. Seems like users are getting trapped between the Apple/Google OS war, which underscores why Y! mail+messenger products are so relevant and consumer-focused.

CREATION. NOT CURATION.: ENDSTER. →
bobbyhundreds:
…if you scan through old Friendster pages, everybody’s friends were commenting on their “Wall” about them, vouching for their friendship status, recounting tales and sharing inside jokes. It’s a striking contrast to how we utilize Facebook and Twitter today: writing status updates about our own lives.

Y! Finance’s new video program The Breakout sits down with SecondMarket CEO Barry Silbert to learn more about the company’s market-making for financial instruments for privately held companies. Interesting tidbit: Facebook shares accounted for 40% of the activity on the platform in 2010. Now that they’ve “proven” the model, SecondMarket wants to list 12,000...
